- Lacona
is situated in the south of the Island of Elba, within easy reach of
Portoferraio (ferry port).
- Its
position in the centre of the southern coastline makes it an ideal base
from where to visit every part of the island.
- The
territory is made up of a plain surrounded by mountains (150-377 m)
and one of the largest gulfs of Elba.
- The
Lacona area boasts some of the island's most beautiful beaches: the
large Lacona beach (1 km fine sand) with its impressive dunes, the charming,
secluded beach of Laconella, the beaches of Margidore, Punta Contessa
and Ghiaieto and various other small bays.
- The
inland is scored by dozens of kilometres of footpaths, offering a richly
varied plant life and breathtaking panoramic views.
- On
the coast and on the plain are facilities for bathing and water-sports,
restaurants, pizzerias, bars, newsstands, mini-markets, bakeries, ice-cream
shops, delicatessens, fishmongers', etc.
